About Our Owner and Shop

When you love fixing cars, helping people, and interacting with your community, you open an auto repair shop. When you're proud of what you do, and how it got its start, you give the business your family name. Jud Matthey grew up working on cars with his father and his brother, and developed a true passion for automobiles of all shapes and sizes. Watching his dad experiment with fuel options other than gasoline, is where his passion for alternative and diesel fuel vehicles comes from. For several years, Jud would watch and learn as often as he could. He didn't mind getting his hands dirty either and would help out whenever the chance presented itself. As he got older, Jud worked on cars in his mother's garage and eventually started working outside of the home, first at Mobil in Oaklyn, and then at Cottman Transmission and T & L Transportation. His knowledge and experience grew, and after completing the Automotive Technology Program at Pennco Technical Institute in 1997, he opened Matthey Automotive. From 2001 to 2005, the increase in new and repeat customers influenced the decision to expand his business into two locations -- one in Collingswood and one in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
